March marks Women's History Month, and what better way to celebrate than with the triumphs of our sisters in the techie world? Many of the items everyone relies upon in their day-to-day lives, from PCs to iPhones, wouldn't exist, at least not in their current forms, without the contribution of women willing to brave the male-dominated geek world. Learning about how these pioneers shaped the technological world makes a perfect way for women and male allies alike to give credit where credit is due.

The LinkedIn TransformHER conference recently had its second gathering and gave people plenty of inspiration. Its purpose is to provide a place for Latina and Black women in tech and their allies to enjoy a professional forum for building relationships and leveraging resources. The first event happened in April 2018 in New York, and the more recent one kicked off in San Francisco on February 1, 2019.

For the past couple of years, men have seemed to dominate the tech industry. The 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) lineup echoed this will have a mostly male lineup of speakers. But times are changing as more and more women are hacking the tech world and positioning themselves in prominent roles.

Tech has been one big boy’s club for far too long. While we all recognize the positive strides that are being made to include a greater number of women in tech, we have a long way to go. Even though women make up more than half of the workforce in the United States, they make up less than 20% of tech jobs. Though there isn’t any shortage of new positions, women are still lagging behind.

Forbes recently released part one of its three-part "Top 50 Women in Tech" list for 2018. In this list, the editors named Europe's top 50 women technologists. In November and December, they'll release lists for the United States and the world, respectively.
